The Melody Go-Round - Mosman

With whimisical melodies resonating from the Melody Go-Round, customers are captivated by the playfulness of the machine. Childrens’ eyes light up when they hear the tunes. With curiosity, they explore the Melody Go-Round and discover to their delight, that the music and ferris wheels are both controlled by turning the brass handles.

Each handle plays two different tunes depending if the customer turns the handle clockwise or anticlockwise. The turning of the handle activates the rotation of the ferris wheels. The speed of the ferris wheels and the music will increase in unison as the customer turns the handle faster. The ability to turn each ferris wheel to a particular bagel, allows Harris Farm Markets to place multiple varieties of bagels on a single wheel.

The Melody Go-Round is a unique concept that has been both designed and manufactured by Found Design Made. In the brief, it was essential for the bagels to be the hero of the Melody Go-Round and appear to float. The design of the stainless bagel “nests” are refined to ensure minimal visual impact to the overall design.

The Melody Go-Round has been meticulously assembled by hand. Striking brass detailing is featured within the machine and reflects the interior finishes palette throughout the Harris Farm Markets Mosman store.

If customers desired multiple bagels, they can select The Bagel Co bagged packs from the “lazy susan” shelf below. When the “lazy susan” is turned to the right, a melody will follow. Holding over 30 bags of bagels, the rotating “lazy susan” shelf optimises valuable retail space. The shelf also extends forward for easy refilling.

Working with Harris Farm Markets enables us to push our design concepts beyond expectations and in doing so reinforce their ethos of being “more than just a supermarket”. Grocery shopping does not need to be a mundane task.
